My name is Lisa Konkol and I’m an artist and writer. Creating picture books combines my love of children, storytelling, art, and writing. It’s an exciting challenge to develop an engaging story-line, find the perfect words, and create illustrations with unique perspectives and colors. I’m eager to make books that make children laugh and encourage them to develop a love of reading!
As an artist, I was fortunate to be designated a Master Artist by the American Juried Art Salon. My paintings have been in galleries, and I’ve received commissions. I’m married, have three grown children, and three young grandchildren. I’ve lived in Chicago, New York, France, and Wisconsin. I’ve been a technical writer for over twenty-five years and an artist my entire life. My degree is in business from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, with an emphasis in English. I’ve been an active member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators for over six years and was awarded a mentorship with illustrator Michael Kress-Russick. Here is a link to SCBWI:
In November, I completed my debut picture book, Who’s Behind the Mask? It was a fascinating journey, and I hope to share my knowledge with others through my blog.
In May 2021, I was honored to have my illustration chosen for the Kidlit411 website banner and Facebook page. I was interviewed and featured in their Illustrator Spotlight. Thank you Kidlit 411!
Also in May, I was delighted to be featured in The Crayon Project fundraiser. What a wonderful organization and please see my blog for more information.
In June, I was excited to be featured by the Society of Illustrators SI Kids website. I created a video teaching a quick craft and reading my book. Come join me!
In September, I’m looking forward to being included in a juried art exhibition at the Overture Center for the Arts.
