Lisa Konkol – Writer and Illustrator

My name is Lisa Konkol and I’ve been a professional writer for over thirty years, and an artist for my entire life. My degree is in business from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, with an emphasis in English. I’ve been fortunate to work with some wonderful companies, but really enjoy creating picture books for children.

Picture books combine my love of children, storytelling, art, and writing. It’s the perfect challenge to develop an engaging story-line, find the perfect words, and create illustrations with unique perspectives and colors. I’m eager to make books that make children laugh and encourage them to develop a love of reading!

As an artist, I was fortunate to be designated a Master Artist by the American Juried Art Salon. My paintings have been in galleries, and I’ve received commissions. This past month I was awarded an honorable mention in the Kidlit411 banner contest. In May 2021, my banner and interview will be featured on their website. Thank you Kidlit 411!

In November, I completed my debut picture book, Who’s Behind the Mask? It was a fascinating journey, and I hope to share my knowledge with others through my blog.

I’m married, have three grown children, and two young grandchildren. I’ve lived in the Chicago area, New York, France, and Wisconsin.
