How to Self-Publish Series: SCBWI Spark Award

Hi Everyone,

I hope you’re doing well. I wanted to make you aware of another wonderful resource for writers and illustrators called SCBWI, and specifically, an SCBWI contest called the Spark Award. If you’re not familiar with SCBWI (Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators), it is an international professional organization for authors and illustrator of books for children and young adult. I’ve belonged to SCBWI for many years and have found it very helpful.

SCBWI offers seminars, workshops, digital videos, and critique groups to help learn the trade of publishing for children. I’ve been fortunate to be able to attend their conferences in New York and Los Angeles, as well as near my hometown in Wisconsin. It’s really inspirational to be around other professionals who are passionate about bringing the best literature to children and young adults.

The Spark Award is a contest for a self-published children or young adult book. You can find more information at the following link:

I submitted my picture book, Who’s Behind the Mask? today, and wanted to make sure that you knew about the contest, too.

Next week, I’ll give you some more resources that I enjoyed.

Stay safe!
